We really appreciated our time at the Old Barracks Heritage Centre! The sad and fascinating history regarding the Fenian Uprising. There was a lovely art exhibit on the top floor too. It is free to tour in April, with a requested donation. A great place to get out of the rain for a bit.

Chanced on this fantastic building and museum when staying in Cahersiveen for 2 nights ended up visiting for 2 hours. Joan and Mary so welcoming and friendly and informative - best €2 I have spent in long time! Highly recommend a visit

This Centre is really worth a visit. There are really informative presentations on all the aspects of the life of O'Connell lawyer, Catholic emancipator and opposition to the 1801 Union. Lots of other local history items too including the railway closed in 1960 and the history of the Barracks itself and it's well worth a climb to the turret. Could take a full morning or afternoon to visit thoroughly. A credit to those who put it together.
