From Rebellion
to Escape Rooms

Uncover the secrets of a 19th-century fortress in the heart of Cahersiveen. Explore powerful stories, panoramic views, and hands-on experiences — from interactive exhibitions to our unique escape room.

A Fortress with
a Story To Tell

Built in the 1870s to guard a global telegraph lifeline, The Old Barracks has stood through rebellion, revolution, and restoration. Today, its walls hold the stories of the Royal Irish Constabulary, the Fenian Rising, and the local people who shaped Irish history.

Restored through local effort in the 1990s, the Barracks now blends historic architecture with modern storytelling. Interactive exhibits, rare artefacts, and personal accounts reveal how this landmark shaped — and was shaped by — the events around it.
